Recommended Story Bibles and Devotional Books
While we often categorize books by age, our approach to Scripture should consider each child’s unique level of biblical understanding, which depends on their exposure to Scripture. We recommend starting with the simplest storybook Bibles to grasp the big story of Scripture, then progressing to more detailed resources as their understanding grows.
The Bible Through Letters
This book walks through the alphabet while sharing the Bible story. We’d recommend this for children under 3 or those learning to read still.
First Bible Storybook
This is a great first introduction to the Bible. It retells the Bible’s stories in a simple way while showing how it’s all connected and points to Jesus our Savior. Parents, you may end up enjoying this just as much as your kids!
2nd Story Bible
This is a great resource to read after completing the Jesus Story Book Bible. There are less illustrations, but the stories are still very simple. Great to read as a family even if your kids are getting older.
Biblestory Picturebook
This book is a shorter version of the biggest story Bible, with larger pages. Could be read quickly by older kids or walked through with younger.
Another Great Option
This is another option for children anywhere from ages 6-12. It is more in depth than the other two options.
Devotional for Teens
This is a great daily devotional for teens. It provides a daily reading with truths of the Gospel. There is an adult version as well.
Prayer
Here's a simple prayer guide to pray with your family.
